Ethereal Eucalyptus Silk Wrap

$150.00

Large multi-use silk wrap/shawl/scarf

2300 x 520 mm

Botanically hand dyed on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia by natural textile artist Phoebe Hunter with eucalyptus leaves + rain water. Hemmed with 100% silk.

A NOTE ON NATURAL DYE

Beauty in the impermanence

Natural dyes do not perform like synthetic ones. We aim to use plants with natural tannins like eucalyptus, pomegranate, and avocado seeds that have longer-lasting dyeability. We also use a lot of flower and tea dyes that have variability in their durability. It's my opinion that this is the charm and beauty of botanical dyes. They wear out over time as we do. The best way to care for your naturally dyed pieces is to wash them as little as needed, dry them in the shade, and keep them out of natural light when not used.

Botanical dying or natural dye is the process that uses leaves, roots, flowers and other organic matter to create colour onto fabric. It has been practised for thousands of years, it was how all our clothes were dyed pre-synthetics.

CARE:

Hand wash silk, Linen, hemp, cotton and wool: Gentle machine wash with natural soap.

Dry in shade, store out of direct sunlight

Fading can occur with naturally dyed fabrics*
