The Wedding Bouquet Scarf

The botanical dye process of turning your beloved wedding bouquet into a truly stunning silk textile keepsake

Wedding Bouquet Preservation

Infuse your wedding flowers into a wearable keepsake, to be worn on special occasions or hung up at home. You can book the wedding bouquet scarf service before or after your event. Once you have posted your flowers to our studio we hand roll and steam print them into a silk scarf. The textile is then ironed and boxed up to be gifted. The process if similar to steeping tea, the boldness and patterns vary with the types of flowers that have been used. For example, white roses will often give soft sienna/golden tones once dyed. Natives will shift to umbers, oranges, and earthy tones. Red roses will print in blush tones and sometimes deep purple depending on if they have been imported or are organically grown. For this reason, no two scarves will be the same and their durability and light fastness will differ from order to order. Botanical dye is not made to last, therefore fading over time will occur. Keep your scarf out of direct sunlight when you are not using it and keep washing to a minimum.

  • We are currently getting our permit to accept flowers from interstate (we are based South Australia). This means you can email phoebe@huntermade.com.au to book / reserve a date while we wait for that to come through. Alternatively you can order the wedding bouquet scarf tutorial kit and make your own wedding bouquet scarf.

  • You can post or drop your flowers off to HunterMade studio if the flowers are from South Australia, please email phoebe@huntermade.com.au if you have any questions

  • After the wedding day keep the flowers in a vase either drying or in water. The flowers can then be sent to our studio to be steamed printed.

  • Every bouquet that I have dyed has produced the most beautiful unique print. An entirely white bouquet will produce golden/yellow tones while a bouquet full of red roses will produce deep madder and purple prints. There is never a complete guarantee of the result and that is what makes this process so alluring.

  • Yes! I have dyed flower bouquets up to twelve months after the wedding. Providing the flowers were kept dried.

A NOTE ON NATURAL DYE

Beauty in impermanence

Natural dyes do not perform like synthetic ones. It's of my opinion that this is the charm and beauty of botanical dyes. They wear out over time as we do. At Hunter Made, our approach to dyeing is rooted in circular making and a deep appreciation for the natural world. That's why we choose to use plants with natural tannins like eucalyptus, pomegranate, and avocado seeds, which not only lend their vibrant hues to our creations but also offer longer-lasting colour fastness. Additionally, we work with an array of flower and tea dyes, each with their own unique durability, adding to the charm and beauty of our botanical dyes. Much like the passing of time, our dyed pieces gracefully wear out over time, creating a truly lived-in aesthetic. To preserve the natural beauty of your garments, we suggest washing them sparingly, drying them in the gentle shade, and storing them away from natural light when not in use. At Hunter Made, we believe that with proper care, your naturally dyed pieces will age gracefully alongside you.
